Who We AreKids Active is managed by husband and wife team Jared and Huia Tuoro who share an unhealthy obsession for good old kiwi style sport. Both early 80's kids, we were raised in the days where there was nothing but a flat ball and an open field to keep you occupied. Once the sun had gone down and our mums had given us the old 'dinner's ready' call, we washed the dirt from our hands and refueled the tired bodies, all the while rehearsing the next day's side step and dummy pass.
Fast forward a few years and we have collected some awesome skills and experiences. We hope to pass our knowledge and passion of sport to lots of young kiwis, so that they might be as fortunate as we have been in our pursuit of life and sport. |
What We Do
We aim to teach kids sports skills and game sense by supplementing the input your child(ren) receive from the awesome people who coach them on a regular and voluntary basis. More often than not, our little guys are being coached by mums and dads, uncles, aunties etc who don't always have a lot of coaching experience. They are simply the wonderful people who turn up week in and week out hoping desperately that someone would magically make the season shorter....or the players better.
That's where we come in... What we do is not rocket science, but it does take practical know how, awareness of how kids function and equal parts of patience and enthusiasm. We put together sport programmes that give variety and repetition to the learning of sport skills. More importantly, we take a game sense approach so that kids are given authentic experiences to test the recall and application of the skills they have been coached. Our programmes follow a tried and proven format that begins with lots of skills coaching and culminates in a mini tournament that gives kids a real opportunity to showcase their learning. |
